Coming from a long line of pipers, Jim got tired of standing in a queue
behind drunken kilted Scotsmen, so packed in the chanter at seven.
That gave him time for a wash before Coronation street.
Picked up his first bass guitar aged 18, but it dumped him 3 weeks later
due to irreconcilable differences. Sold his soul round the clubs for a
few years learning a healthy disrespect for music, and finally joined
Steve and Malcolm in therapy (not a band - the medical type).
